  • 1. Who is this training for?

    The Practical Guide to Treating Skin of Colour training is primarily aimed at skin and beauty therapists with a minimum Level 2 or equivalent qualification. Allied skin professionals, such as make up artists and nail technicians, can also take this course.

  • 2. What pre-requisite qualification do I need to do the Skin of Colour course?

    We recommend you have an NVQ L2 (or equivalent) qualification in skincare as a minimum to enable you to swiftly move through the lessons. However, should you not have this, you can still do the course but do bear in mind that you may find it more challenging and progress may be at a slower pace.

  • 3. How is the training provided?

    Training is provided through an online learning platform that enables you to log-in from your laptop, computer and smartphone devices to study whenever you want. The learning platform supports almost all browsers, with an exception of Linux, Internet Explorer and Chromium. For technical requirements visit the Thinkific System Requirements Guide.   • 4. How do I enrol?

    Enrolment is easy! Click on any Purchase Now button on our Homepage. You will be redirected to a new page to enter the required contact information to set-up you members account and to make a secured payment hosted by Stripe. Once payment has been made, you will receive a receipt by email and a welcome email to get started. P.S. Bookmark the website Sign In page for easier access.

  • 5. I am a business or education centre, can I purchase multiple “seats” for the course?

    Yes, you can! If you wish to buy 5 or more seats, we can streamline the process for you. Email your request to [email protected]. We endeavour to respond to your request within 4 working days.

  • 6. How much time do I need to complete the course?

    How long it takes to complete the course is completely up to you and your schedule. However, we think that you can complete the course in 5 hours split over 1-2 days.

  • 7. Is there a time limit to complete the training?

    Access to the training portal and your member account is available for 12 months from the date of enrolment.

  • 8. If I have questions about the course content, can I contact the Tutor directly?

    Please email [email protected] with questions about the course content and we will respond within 48 hours. This may be slightly longer over the weekend or public holidays.

  • 9. Do I receive a certificate of completion?

    Yes! Once you have successfully passed the final quiz, a CPD certified electronic certificate will be generated within the learning portal. You have the choice to download, save and print the certificate from your device.

  • 10. What if I fail the quiz?!

    Don’t panic! The aim of this training is not to catch you out, but to test your knowledge and make sure you are learning the right things. We want all students to achieve their certification, hence you can continuously revisit course materials and retake the final quiz within the year of enrolment. Do note that, in compliance with CPD standards, students must work through the entire course plan without skipping a lesson or end of lesson quiz.

  • 11. I've finished the course, what next?

    If you have agreed to receive communications from Training by Black Skin Directory, you will receive occasional updates and news on future events by us and from relevant partners. We’d love to see you there (IRL or online).

  • 12. What should I do if I am having technical issues?

    To access the training, please first make sure that you are using a laptop, desktop computer or smartphone device with the latest version of your web browser.   • 13. I am not satisfied with the course, what can I do?

    We really do hope that you will love the course. However, if you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the course, please contact us with a description of the issue and your student username/email: [email protected]. We will contact you within 4 working days on receipt of your email.

  • 14. What is your cancellation policy? Can I get a refund?

    Students have the right to cancel the course within 14 days from date of purchase. You will receive a full refund of any payments you have made, unless cancellation is made after you have accessed more than 10% of the course content. In this case, you will be required to pay for any part of the online course accessed. This amount will be calculated on a pro rata basis. If you wish to cancel, please contact our Training Team by email [email protected]. In the email subject, please include the word “CANCEL” and in the body of the email, please provide your student username/email and reasons for cancellation.   • 15. How is my personal information used?

    We keep your secrets secret! All personal data collected through our mailing lists, enrolment, participation in the course and any subsequent communications (e.g. admin emails, student surveys) are stored securely and used only for relevant communications, research by the Black Skin Directory and necessary administration, e.g. for certificate accreditation where applicable.   • 16. Will I be added on the Black Skin Directory practitioner listing by doing the Practical Guide to Treating Skin of Colour Course?

    No, learners are not listed on the Black Skin Directory as you must have regulated qualifications to treat skin. The Practical Guide to Treating Skin of Colour course is classed as a Continuing Professional Development course.

  • 17. How many CPD points will I get?

    As Black Skin Directory are the organiser of the course, we do not allocate specific CPD credits. The CPD Accreditation Service, to which the course is certified, recommend the following: Normally 1 hour of CPD equals 1 point, credit. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the individual attending or undertaking any CPD activity to evaluate for themselves the learning benefit gained and then to record this in line with the membership or CPD requirements of his or her professional body or employer organisation.
